He explained that most crimes are ones of opportunity, turning your porch light on decreases these opportunities . In addition not only does night lighting makes it easier for us to report the location of suspicious behavior more accurately but it also helps police offices respond to that information more quickly. Starting tonight the 51st Street Block Watch is asking everyone on our block to use thier porch lights at night. A flyer will be handed out asking 2100 block residents to help. At approximately $12.00/year its a small price to pay to keep your house and neighborhood safe.
